Taylor 410 ce Acoustic Guitar

In 1991 theTaylor 410 ce came out which at the time was somewhat innovative because the quality of the guitar and the very reasonable price.

At the time most budget beginner acoustic guitars where coming out of Asia. It was just much less expensive to build an acoustic guitar over there than here in the states. Asian countries also had access to quality woods.

But even Japan came to a point where they were outsourcing to Korea. Not that there wasn’t quality acoustic guitars, but you’d have to shop carefully to find one. I remember that time; when you’d get the guitar and the set-up was poor, sometimes very difficult to play, and the laminated woods made the tone sound terrible. They were nowhere near the sound quality of the more expensive acoustic guitars from Gibson, Martin, and Guild that were still manufactured here in the states.

That’s when the Taylor 410 ce came in. Taylor had to strip some stuff out to get to the lower price point, but it’s still all solid wood. The 410 Taylor introduced a satin finish that ended up saving a lot of time finishing and buffing.

In the May 1997 issue of Acoustic Guitar Magazine, Scott Nygaard rated it the best acoustic guitar of the bunch, “the warmest sounding, most evenly balanced of all the guitars.” He wrote, “I managed to get a nice round tone out of just about every single note on the guitar, something I couldn’t say about the other guitars.”

I have to say, I’ve had a chance to play this guitar and it sounds amazing! The first time I played it I had just recently bought the Taylor Guitar 210 ce and I was begging the guitar store to let me trade up and pay the difference. It’s a bit of story why they wouldn’t and I’m very happy with my 210 ce.

I can say unequivocally, after playing this acoustic guitar myself, that you will love the playability and sound of the 410 ce!

The 410 was a huge success for Taylor that led them to expanding the 400 series to grand concert and acoustic-electric versions.
