Martin D28

Martin D28

The standard
Martin D28 Acoustic Guitar
has a solid sitka spruce top, and the back and sides are solid east indian rosewood. Rosewood tends to have a better bass response and gives you that low end that Martin is know for. I like the fact that I don’t have to play hard to get a strong tone.

Other features include M6 chrome tuning gears, a gloss finish, and a Martin hardshell case (crap!).

Some people do not like the way the Martins play. It has a big bass response and can sound a little thin on the treble end of the spectrum. The Martin D28 does have a much more bassy sound than say the Taylors for example.  However, for some people that’s what they absolutely love about the Martin D28.  Like all brands they play and sound a little different so choose one that feels good to you.

Many people believe this is the best sounding guitar on the planet.  I don’t know about that.  I’ve sat at the music store and played the Gibson J200 or Hummingbird, or the Taylors in this price range.  They all sound really good but different.  But no doubt the Martin D28 IS one of the best sounding guitars on the planet!

I have been playing guitar since probaly around 1976. Back then Martin was THE acoustic guitar to have.  If you’re a beginner, and can afford it, this guitar will give you a lifetime of enjoyment. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone interested in a guitar with a ton of volume, tone, and to anyone interested in classic design and heritage. You can’t go wrong with the
