Guild D-55 Acoustic Guitar
Guild’s flagship model the D-55 acoustic guitar was first introduced in 1968 and represents the top of Guild’s line. At the time it was introduced it was a special order item only. Guild Guitars has always taken a lot of pride in giving you your money’s worth when purchasing their acoustic guitars.
Guild D-55 Acoustic Guitar has a Solid spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, scalloped braces, dovetail neck joint, nitrocellulose finish. It also adds multiple-piece abalone and pearl fretmarkers, multilayerd fingerboard and headstock binding, and a simply beautiful abalone rosette! This is a pretty heavy guitar too. It really just feels like a very solid acoustic guitar and a feeling of consistency when playing up and down the fretboard
To me, the Guild D-55 action was perfect making it really easy to play. Some people like to modify the action on their new acoustic guitar, but for me, this acoustic guitar was perfect.
One of the first things you notice when you start to play the Guild D-55 is the volume. Man this acoustic guitar has some punch! The sound is full, rich and has sparkling clarity. A fantastic crunchy bottom with the bass notes you can feel in your belly but enough top end cuts through.
Last but not least, asthetically the Guild D-55 blew me away. Gold hardware, beautiful inlay and gorgeous wood. You may buy other acoustic guitars for reasons that you’re a beginner, or a guitar your not afraid to bang around, or an acoustic guitar that’s smaller (like a Baby Taylor), but this is one you’ll keep forever and hand down to your children.
The Guild D55 Acoustic Guitar is not an inexpensive guitar at about $2,499 with hard-shell case. But OMG for a rosewood, all solid wood acoustic guitar made in the USA it’s worth every penny.
