About
Hi, My name is John Reily and I’m a guitar enthusiast. Mostly acoustic guitar now. I’ve been playing guitar since around 1976 (somewhere around there). Actually I started playing bass with some friends. We were just a bunch a friends and the only thing missing was a bass player so that’s what I took.
We were just a garage band, Literally! My bass and amp got stolen after a couple years-so after that I just started playing guitar. I was already learning some chords anyway.
I played in rock-n-roll bands throughout my teens and early 20′s. Never more then party’s and stuff like that. Just doing covers of Skynyrd, Nugent, REO, ZZ Top, stuff like that. With a few originals thrown in. Then kids came and I had to get responsible!
Gosh, I’m trying to remember some of the guitars I’ve had over the years. I had an Ibenez Fly V, Gibson SG, Les Paul, Fender Strat, and there might have been some others in there. I still have my Les Paul that I haven’t picked up in years. Mostly I play my Ovation, and I have a 12-string Epiphone.
As I put this site together it’s pretty awesome going down to Guitar Center and playing the different acoustic guitars that I’m reviewing. I’ve always wanted to own a really nice Taylor (especially after seeing Stephen Curtis Chapman playing one) but the more I play some of the Gibson’s, I just might be changing my tune!
At this writing I’ve been married for 22+ years. My wife and I have four children and I have a step-son.
I’m a Christian and got saved in 1992.
As I approach 50 I start thinking – I have less time to live than I’ve been alive. hmmmm
Thanks for stopping by my site. Come back often because I will continue to update it.
-John
